Peach Themed Bridal Shower

love is sweet as a peach signMy bridal shower was held in mid-August, on a baking hot, summery day. We live in Pennsylvania, but it was definitely reminiscent of a humid Georgia day.

While planning with my incredible matron of honor and wonderful bridesmaids, I fell in love with having a southern, summer, peach-themed bridal shower.

My  centerpieces were white hydrangea flowers in mason jars, tied with peach ribbon, and we gave out tiny jars of raspberry jam as favors. We sipped peach Bellini punch through barber straws (a favorite touch) and feasted on the best peach-upside-down-cake I’ve ever had – we didn’t even get a photo, because we all ate it so quickly!

A tradition at PA bridal showers is to have raffle baskets to give to guests as gifts. My two favorite were a lemonade-themed raffle basket, and an ice-cream sundae-themed basket, both of which were perfect for a hot summer day. We also played the typical bridal shower games, but I have to give major kudos to Rachel, my matron of honor, for putting together the “Who has the groom?” game. She spent weeks cutting out little celebrity heads from magazines and pasting them on tuxedo bodies. One lucky guest had a mini-Russell and they won a gift. It was and still is hilarious.

We kept the other decorations simple: a bowl of peaches and a pitcher of flowers decorated my “Meet the Maids” display; one of my bridesmaids stitched together a doily banner for me; and a co-worker at the time made me a hand-painted sign that read “Love Is Sweet as a Peach.” This sign is in my home office now, and I still love it so much. Everyone brought their favorite family recipes, printed on peach recipe cards, and filled out advice cards that I kept in a scrapbook. It was the perfect, simple, southern, sweet as a peach-themed shower a girl could ask for.

My best friends and family hosted a magnificent party for me, and I am very thankful and blessed that it was as amazing, fun, and charming as I wanted it to be. A special thank you to my favorite restaurant, Bistro19, for hosting the event; the food was amazing, the service incredible. This is one of my most-favorite days.
