Over the past few weeks, I’ve decided that summer vacations need to happen every season – if only we lived in a world where that was a possibility.
Russell and I returned from our annual vacation a few weeks ago, and immediately upon setting foot back home we were instantly overwhelmed by life. It seemed like there was no point to taking time off because we overworked before we left to prepare and overworked once we got back to make up for being gone. I already need another. Ugh.
We went back to beautiful, sunny, Destin, Florida – the same place we went last year. And beautiful it was. The weather held up, the water was the perfect temperature, and we saw an amazing sunset nearly every night. We went on a dolphin cruise, drank way too much, ate some of the best local seafood ever, and enjoyed each other’s company. We visited a beautiful state park, Eden Gardens, which is the perfect place to get married. So southern, so romantic. Also, we saw two sharks in the water with us, and one giant sting ray, so I can cross those thrills off my bucket list. I had the best tan I’ve had in a few years, too, but it’s since faded. (Why am I a yankee again?!)
I thought I’d share some of the photos I took while on vacation, below, for both myself and others to look at once the winter blues arrive. If I try real hard, I can still feel the sand between my toes and the sunshine on my skin…
