Spaghetti Dinner Sunday & Weekend Fun

It’s nearly 10 at night, and I’m just sitting down from a really busy weekend. Whew. Feels good to put my feet up! The weather has FINALLY broken here in Pennsylvania, and it looks like spring might actually arrive soon! It was around 40 degrees and sunny today, and that was just amazing. We spent the weekend catching up with friends and family, two things it seems like we haven’t done all winter.

I went back to the gym on Saturday for the first time in over a month (I kept getting sick, repeatedly, in February – it’s so nice having a compromised immune system at the peak of office flu season, let me tell you), and while I felt like I didn’t do nearly enough, I was proud of myself for getting there. I have some limits that I don’t like to live with, but I’m learning to not push it. I stopped before I was dying, which meant I didn’t ruin my entire weekend, thankfully.

I also was able to finally find the time to make a few spring wreaths! I’ve been chomping at the bit to have some bright and cheerful decorations around the house, and the temporary spring flowers did a lot of good for my psyche.

We also spent time with our good friend Mallory, going out on Saturday night and pretending that we’re still young and spry. It’s been a long time since we went out and had drinks, and it was a blast to catch up with her. On Sunday, we stopped by our friend Lia’s house to drop off a wreath and say hi. Baby Clare Bear is almost a year old already! She’s got a mop top and a toothy smile, and is absolutely adorable. We said we’d come up with a day to have a BBQ at our place in the summer, since we all haven’t hung out in way too long. It’s been a hard winter on everyone.

My dad and stepmom Shirl also asked us to stop by for dinner…and it was a spaghetti Sunday, my favorite. My dad made sauce and hard meatballs (the kind I like) and it was delicious. You could invite me over any day of the week for homemade spaghetti and meatballs. We got to bring leftovers home, too so win/win.

I received a gift from my dad as well – this crazy beautiful 3D cutting board that he made. He said it was the reject and that’s why I got it, but I’m having a hard time seeing anything wrong with it. It’s beautiful!

I apparently come from a craft-happy family.

It was honestly just so nice to get out of the house. I feel a real sense of accomplishment from this weekend, and am ready to take on the work week. It hasn’t always been so on recent Sunday nights, so this is a real blessing in disguise. I’m over having the winter blues. Bring on spring!
