My bestie Lia and her adorable growing family are back on the blog – this time, with little Clare as the addition! I took Lia’s maternity photos almost a year ago, an experience which filled my heart for quite a few days. Now, Clare’s giggles are what gets me all mushy! Watching your friends get married, travel the world, do anything that makes them happy is such a wonderful experience…but watching them grow a family, when you also want a family someday, is truly kind of soul-wrenching in the best way possible.
Lia asked me to take her family’s first-annual Christmas card photos, along with Clare’s 6 month photos, and it was ridiculously fun. We were putting up and tearing down DIY backdrops (a Grinch-themed flannel sheet), playing with toys to make Clare laugh, trying to keep the cat out of the Christmas tree…not only did I get to take what I think are cute photos, but we made some funny memories that day.
Lia really was the creative one. She styled the shoot herself! The pajamas and decorations were her idea (though I brought my own throw pillows, because we have matching red and gray ones as we’re both obsessed with Home Goods). It was her idea to tie her family up in Christmas lights, not mine…just saying.
I’m so happy with how these turned out! It was my first time taking pictures with a baby, and although by the end Clare was tired, she did smile quite often for me. God, I hope my kids are that well behaved.
And one more for the feels, because I can…welcome to the world, Clare Bear!
