Spring Has Sprung

Today I feel like bursting into song, ala Disney Princess style – “The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, I’m going to be talking to inanimate objects soon!” (Too late). Anywho…

It’s absolutely GORGEOUS outside today, which after this winter, is a hugely welcomed break. I was able to enjoy a cup of coffee on my front porch this morning while checking out our growing tulips…of course, then I got attacked by all those gross little gnat swarms that seem to appear out of the ground as soon as it warms up, but it was still nice for a few minutes.

Tulips and daffodils are growing! Love spring flowers.

I’m always a season or two ahead of the actual weather in my mind. Fall is my absolute favorite, but by the time it’s here, I’ve already got the Christmas decorations out. Spring was the same this year. I decorated for Easter right after Valentine’s day. *blushes*

But today, the decorations matched the weather! And I thought to myself, hell, that may be worthy of a post. Sunshine and good spirits all around!

Decorating for the holidays is probably one of my FAVORITE things to do. I’m such a sucker for the seasonal aisles at Target, and don’t even get me started on how much better seasonal Oreos are than regular Double Stuf. (They have colored cream filling guys. Colored). There’s also the grand debate with my husband as to whether or not the inside of the house needs to match the outside. We did not hang 500 Christmas lights this year, much to my disappointment. I just didn’t think it’d be that dangerous to stand on a ladder that was situated on ice in 20 degree weather, but Russell did not agree.

I’ve kept our outside spring decorations to a minimum – hopefully, once the azaleas and forsythia begin to bloom, they will do all the work for me! Until then, I’ve got an Easter egg wreath hanging on the door, which I found for a bargain at CVS (under ten bucks!). It makes me happier than it should.

Found this adorable Easter Egg Wreath at CVS!

I also love decorating our fireplace mantle with any seasonal decorations. These decorations came from a combination of Pier 1, Target, and Michael’s.

Love changing the mantle decorations to reflect the season – spring is so colorful!

It makes me happy to be surrounded by seasonal things. Right now I’m loving the bright colors more than anything. Only two more weeks until Easter! Probably more food photos to come soon 😉 Easter ham…*drools*.
